Our month-long exploration of Firefly is finally drawing to a close.
Four hours of podcasting and a few all-day writing marathons later, and we’re ready to show off the Let’s Write Podcast’s very first script.
If you’re joining us a little late in the process, at the top of November we decided to join in on National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a community challenge in which writers commit to completing an entire novel in a month. Instead of a novel however, we decided to develop and write a TV-length script for a revival of one of our favorite shows.
Over the course of a couple of podcast episodes and some off-the-air brainstorms, we conceptualized an idea for a second season of the show, set 15 years after the events of Serenity.
You can find those first two episodes here and here (or on Apple, Stitcher, Spotify, and Google Play), and below, we’ve got a bonus “port-mortem” chat, in which we spend a few minutes dissecting the past few weeks, its challenges, and what we ultimately learned from the process.
Before you do that however, you can download a PDF of the full script here.
While this will be our last big project set in the Firefly universe for at least a little while, we’ll be continuing to explore this “Season 2” idea a bit more throughout the rest of December. Over the next few weeks going into the new year, we’ll be posting nine episode synopses, tracking our arc for the season from episodes two through the season finale.
We’ll be posting all of that on our Twitter account, so please give us a follow there if you’d like to read more!
This has been a really exhilarating experience for us, and we hope you’ve gotten some enjoyment out of it as well. If you’ve liked the full script direction rather than our usual treatments (or vice versa), please let us know! We’re always keen on reading your feedback.
