District 10 was the “pilot” episode for the Let’s Write Podcast.
One of the biggest drivers behind this podcast was the idea of sequels that were never made, movies and TV series that created intensely rich worlds, but for whatever reasons, were never able to be explored further.
This show gave us an opportunity to delve into some of the possibilities, and when it came time to draw up a list of our “most wanted” dream projects, District 9 was pretty close to the top of all of ours.
Envisioning a sequel to Neill Blomkamp’s District 9, we pick back up with the story in semi-real time, about a decade after the events of the first.
In it, we wanted to explore a future in which Christopher Johnson does make good on his promise (albeit a few years late), and the dramatic effect the aliens’ return would have on the world at large.
